March Timeline & FAQs

What time is sunset at La Vindemia?

When you inquire about our winery wedding venue services, one of the first things we consider is the sunset time. This helps us determine the best time for your wedding portraits, including the "golden hour" when the light is perfect for beautiful photos. It also helps us determine the time of your ceremony. For our sample timeline, we'll use a typical sunset time in Temecula, California, which varies throughout the year.

Do you want a first look?

A first look is a great option for couples for many reasons, and we recommend it in certain situations.

Later Sunset Time

In March, the sun sets later compared to the winter months, which means all important portraits, such as wedding party photos, family photos, and newlywed portraits, can take place before or during the reception. With a first look, we can schedule more time for those beautiful sunset photos even during the reception.

Large Wedding Party

If you have a large wedding party, more time is required for wedding party photos, especially if you want creative and fun portraits. Coordinating a group of more than 12 people takes time, and it's best to err on having more time.

Large Family Formal Groupings

Our recommended family formal groupings include grandparents, parents, and siblings. However, including more people, such as aunts and uncles, takes more time. We can take family photos quickly if everyone is on-site, but many people usually wander to cocktail hour, which can delay the portraits. For weddings without a first look, we recommend keeping the formal list short to ensure that those portraits don't take all of your cocktail hour. To learn more about whether a first look is right for you on your wedding day, please contact us.

Is there any travel required on our wedding day?

Our timeline is based on events taking place at our La Vindemia venue. If you have separate locations for getting ready, ceremony, and reception, please account for travel time in your timeline.

How many hours of wedding day photography coverage do we need?

For a typical winery wedding in Temecula, California, with 120 guests, we recommend 8-9 hours of photography coverage. Depending on whether you want a first look, we can start on-site photography 3-4 hours before the ceremony and wrap up coverage about 30 minutes after the last major reception event. We usually don't stay through the end of the reception since after an hour of dancing, the photos can become monotonous. We'll work with you to create a reception timeline to ensure that we capture all major moments before we leave.
